Thanks to all who helped us for 7 years!

God Bless You,

It is with sadness that George & I close the rescue.

Due to George’s cancer care and my health concerns, we feel we cannot continue to take care of the horses.

We are so very grateful for all the donations we’ve received and the hard work of our volunteers. Some of our volunteers wish to stay on with us and we are delighted for that also. We still have Pudge as a permanent resident and Captain as well.

We are not open to visitors, however, we do invite people to take riding lessons if they contact us in advance. Jordan Sinners(717-205-6042)  gives beginner lessons for $25 an hour and refresher lessons. Her email is, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Mt. Hope Horse Rescue, Inc. (formerly Mt. Hope Stables & Rescue, Inc.) is a Non-Profit organization, dedicated to the the well being and enjoyment of horses.  Our facility is located in a peaceful and idyllic setting in northern Lancaster County, PA. To date, we have rescued over 55 horses who were abused, neglected, mistreated, or destined for slaughter. For being a small facility with only 8 stalls, we are extremely proud of our success and eternally grateful for the wonderful volunteers, supporters, and donors who have helped to care for these rescued horses.

Once we have evaluated, rehabilitated, and trained our horses we are able to put them up for adoption.  All of our horses and potential adopters are thoroughly evaluated to aid in the best possible match for horse and rider. A successful partnership creates a bond of trust and friendship for both the horse and its rider, and it is our goal to find that match for every horse we save.

We invite you to peruse our website and read our storied of horses we've successfully saved and then subsequently adopted out, our available horses, our current needs, how you can help, etc.

Please contact our Director, Pat Potter, at 717-575-5635, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have any questions.

Help To Support Us

There is an urgent need for your donation!!!

It takes over $60,000 a year to run the facility.  The costs range from care for the horses, maintaining the grounds, salaries for the contractors, vehicle repairs, etc.

Consider becoming a monthly donor!!

All it takes is making a pledge to donate each month, or each financial quarter.  You can even sponsor a horse at various financial levels.  Please see our sponsor tab for details.  When you sponsor a horse, not only will you be helping to offset some of the costs for feeding and care, but you are also helping to keep our doors open to rescue more horses.

Wish List

Our new wishlist is now on Amazon! Below you can click on any of the items listed or you can go to and search their registries by typing in Mt Hope Horse Rescue and it will bring up our list of badly needed items.
